Who are we?
Children Beyond our Borders is a nonprofit organization founded in Gainesville, Florida. CBOB has three main objectives:
• Encourage education for at risk-youth around the globe
o CBOB provides a comprehensive mentorship program for teenage students in Colombia that teaches vital entrepreneurial skills and stresses the importance of community service
• Provide access to higher education for deserving students
The “I AM CBOB” scholarship fund sponsors 100% of the cost of tuition for many deserving students in Colombia.
• Spread awareness of global service
o Each year CBOB organizes 6 trips to South America where American students spend 2 weeks presenting educational workshops to students and building facilities for impoverished youth
We represent the UF Student Chapter of CBOB. Our goals are aligned with those of the nonprofit. We seek to raise funds to support the scholarship fund and mentorship program and spread awareness of the organization in our community.
What is our event?
Zumba is a national fitness phenomenon. Derived from a Brazilian form of dance, Zumba has evolved into a comprehensive cardiovascular workout. Through a series of dance movements, dancers can burn up to 1,000 in an hour!
In the Spring of 2011, CBOB hosted its first annual Zumbathon at the Vault Nightclub in downtown Gainesville. We had over 65 attendees who enjoyed a full morning of free food, giveaways, and of course Zumba classes. We were able to raise over $1,000 for CBOB!
On February 19th , we will be hosting our second annual Zumbathon at UF Hillel across from campus. We expect between 100 and 200 attendees and we expect to raise over $2500.
Why we need your sponsorship?
Hosting an event with over 100 attendees requires a lot of resources. We need your help to make sure our members can enjoy free food, prizes, and anything else to enhance their experience.
Why should you help us?
Any form of donation will automatically make your business a sponsor for our event. As such, your business logo will be featured on many pamphlets that will be handed out before and at the event. Every single attendee will receive a pamphlet, so that’s already at least 150 eyes that will see your business logo.
Along with the goodwill that will come from sponsoring our event, you will be contributing to the University education of many talented young students in Latin America.
Ways to donate
We will accept donations of any form. We are mainly looking for:
• Food and snacks to keep our attendees well fed
• Giftcards or anything else that can be given away as a prize
• Monetary Donations (which will go straight to the “I AM CBOB” scholarship fund)
